Estate Planning in 2023

By Attorney Megan D. Strait

2023 is upon us and it is time to start making those New Year’s Resolutions that we all talk about. Each year we inevitably make promises to ourselves and set goals for the year. Whether it be to eat healthier or exercise more frequently, we find ways to try and better our lives. When considering what your resolutions should be for 2023, consider adding estate planning to your list.

You may have been putting off creating an estate plan, and if so, there is no better time than to start preparing one now. Often times, people delay in creating these plans, but not having a plan can create serious hardships for your loved ones. If you are interested in getting started, please feel free to contact Walters & Galloway, PLLC. Our attorneys would be happy to discuss your goals for the future and develop a plan that works for you.

If you are someone who has already created an estate plan, you should still add estate planning to your New Year’s Resolutions. Although you may have previously worked to develop a plan that suited your needs, things may have changed since you last took a look at your documents. There may have been a death in the family that impacts the documents that you created, or a disease or diagnosis that requires a review of your documents. It may also just simply be time to revisit your plan, because changes in the law may have occurred that impact the documents that you have in place. Please feel free to contact Walters & Galloway, PLLC to schedule a consultation to have your documents reviewed. We are happy to assist you in updating your plans.
